Under the vigilant supervision of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Bashir Ahmed, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) launches a rigorous operation against electricity theft, yielding significant results in the past 24 hours. A total of 341 connections of electricity thieves were apprehended, disconnected, and charged for their illicit activities, as reported by Hesco.
Of these, 321 connections were detected across the region, leading to the filing of FIRs against 269 perpetrators, with 16 FIRs officially registered. The seized connections comprise 5 commercial and 316 domestic connections, each facing penalties amounting to 1 lakh 61 thousand 287 units, equivalent to a detection bill worth Rs 48 lakh 14 thousand 475.
Over the course of a 160-day operation, Hesco has recovered an astounding sum exceeding 11 billion 1 crore 87 lakhs, with 31956 suspects implicated in electricity theft. Notably, 196 accused have been apprehended, with disciplinary actions taken against errant employees and officers, including dismissals, arrests, and suspensions.
The relentless pursuit of justice against electricity theft underscores Hesco’s commitment to eradicating this menace without prejudice. CEO Engineer Bashir Ahmed affirms that the operation will persist until electricity theft is completely eradicated, emphasizing the accountability of both perpetrators and complicit Hesco personnel.
These include 09 commercial, 01 industrial, and 331 residential connections. The HESCO authorities have disconnected all the connections and issued detection bills totaling 1,61,287 units to them, amounting to 4.814 million rupees.—INP
