Heavy snow fall of the current winter season has completely paralyzed life in Abbottabad city where temperature is dropped below freezing point and at least two feet snow has been reported in Meera Jani, Nathiagali, Ayubia, Changla Gali, Donga Gali, Bara Gali and Thandyiani while on the upper hilly areas of Gallyat three feet snow has been reported.
According to met office, snow fall which was started on the late hours of Wednesday and will continue till the evening of Saturday. Abbottabad Murree road has been closed for all kind of traffic from different points while number of link road a in the district were also intrupted.
Gallyat Development Authority (GDA) Spokesman Ahsan Hameed while giving update regarding the snow fall and road clearance situation told that Ab-bottabad to Muree road has been blocked for all sort of traffic due to land sliding at Kundla and ad-vised the tourists for their movement between Tohid abad and Dunga Gali. He further told that due to heavy snowfall, its impossible for clearance of the road despite the fact that Snow removing machinery of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority and GDA is on standby in the area where Engineering staff will start their operation after break in snow-fall.
Director General GDA Raza Ali Habib in his video message told that GDA has made all out arrange-ments in Gallyat to facilitate the winter tourists. He told that more than one lack tourists have so far reached in Gallyat which has jam packed entire Gallyat having no accommodation space in hotels as well as no capacity for vehicles. He told that over two feet snow has been recorded so far and further two feet snow is predicted in next two days. He announced to closed entry in Gallyat for limited time and asked the tourists to follow the GDA web-site for road clearance. This temporary closure of entry is just for the safety of tourists, he added.
Road from Abbottabad to Thandyiani was also closed from Kala Panni onward Thandyiani where at least three feet snow has been reported. Light snow fall was also recorded in surrounding hills of Abbottabad city. Electricity supply in entire district was badly interupted throughout the day which has increased the miseries of the people during freezing temperature. _________________________
