As the heavy rains, couple with flash floods played havoc in parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, at least eight people including women and minors were reported killed and several others were wounded. The heavy down pour Saturday morning in Peshawar also turned many roads of the provincial metropolis into canals and many localities of the city were inundated by the rain water.
Reports reaching here said at least six people including four women were killed in flash flood in Takht Nusrati Tehsil of Karak district.
According to reports victims were collecting wood in the floodwater when they were washed away by a strong wave before they could come out. The Police with the help of people retrieved the dead bodies of four women and two men. Likewise, a minor girl was killed and two others sustained injuries when roof of their house caved in due to heavy downpour in Haripur district. The Rescue teams rushed the victims, all minors, to the trauma center where the medics pronounced a minor girl dead. While the rain continued to lash several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday, heavy down pour in the provincial metropolis inundated large part of Peshawar as the rain water accumulated in many localities where the commuters confronted great difficulties in thier movement. Though the heat-stricken residents of Peshawar received some respite after heavy rain that turned the weather pleasant in the morning , it also inundated roads, streets and bus stands in Peshawar. The rain water also filled up in many stations of the under construction mega project BRT.
