Heatwave persists in Lahore, Punjab with 06-08°C above normal temperatures

LAHORE – Heatwaves will continue to prevail in Lahore and most parts of Punjab on Monday and Tuesday with 06 to 08°C above normal day temperatures.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure prevails in the upper atmosphere, likely to persist during the next two days. A shallow westerly wave also prevails over northern parts of the country.
Under these conditions, heatwaves will continue to persist in Lahore and most districts of the province on Monday and Tuesday. Day temperatures will likely remain 06 to 08°C above normal levels. Gusty/dust-raising winds are likely during the afternoon.
Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 43-45°C on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in most parts of the province including Lahore during the last 24 hours. Gusty/dust-raising winds occurred during the afternoon.
Khanpur remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 50°C. Maximum temperature in Rahim Yar Khan, Bhakkar, D G Khan and Kot Addu was recorded at 49°C, Multan at 48°C, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Jhang, Joharabad, Layyah, Kasur and Noorpur Thal at 47°C.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 16 per cent.
