Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid Wednesday had a brief meeting with the delegation of the World Health Organization (WHO) at Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department during which pilot project for hepatitis control program in district Nankana was discussed in detail.
Director General Health Services Punjab Dr Haroon Jahangir, Deputy Commissioner Nankana district Raja Mansoor Ahmad Khan, Dr Yadullah, Prof Javaid Chaudhry, Dr Khalid Mehmood, Dr Irfan Ahmad, Dr Adnan, Waqar Khan and Dr Jamshaid and Dr Zahida Sarwar from WHO were also present on the occasion.
Deputy Commissioner district Nankana Raja Mansoor Ahmad and CEO Health Dr Shakeel briefed the steps taken for the patients of hepatitis.
The WHO delegation members assured the Health Minister for cooperation with the health department.
Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said that the screening program for hepatitis patients will be started with the help of the WHO. This program will be continued in the whole province after its success, she added She said, “All healthcare staff will be trained before starting this programme. WHO will also run a campaign in district Nankana to create awareness among masses.”
Dr. Yasim Rashid further said that the health department will be helpful to WHO for designing anti-hepatitis programme in district Nankana. DG Health Dr Haroon Jahangir said that availability of all medical facilities will be ensured.
