Health experts have warned that hasty approval to Covid-19 vaccine by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi without completion of its clinical trials is akin to playing with the lives of millions of people.
An analytical report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said that India’s indigenous Covid-19 vaccine Covaxin developed by Bharat Biotech was approved by India’s Drug Regulatory Authority on 3rd January 2021 after Prime Minister Modi termed it a ‘game changer’ despite the fact that the key third phase of Covaxin’s clinical trials were not completed.
The report citing experts said that no one is going to trust the Modi government regarding the effectiveness of the Covid-19 vaccine as Narendra Modi could do anything, even play with the lives of millions of India, for cheap popularity. They also warned of the threat to the life of tens of thousands of Indians getting administered the scientifically unproven vaccine.
The report quoted All India Drug Action Network to have said that the emergency approval of the Covid vaccine without completion of clinical trials is scientifically illogical arguing that neither there was any data of third phase of the trials, nor were any proofs of the vaccine being effective. It added that India has not even published or presented the data regarding the efficacy of vaccine during phase 1 and phase 2 trials.—KMS
