LAHORE – Amid extreme cold weather conditions, Punjab government announced an extension of the winter holidays for Non-Formal Education Institutions (NFEIs) across the region, and these institutions will now remain closed until January 11, 2025.
The announcement was made following rumors on social media claiming that the entire winter holiday schedule for schools had been revised. However, official notification clarified that the extension only applies to Non-Formal Education Institutions, which are community-based learning centers, and not to the broader category of public and private schools.
Pakistan Observer checked facts about extension, and it turned out that winter vacation for all public and private schools in Punjab remains as originally scheduled.
Schools will remain closed until January 10, 2025, with classes set to resume on January 13, 2025 after weekend.
School Winter Vacation Update
Earlier today, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government extended winter vacations for all public and private schools in the Summer Zones until January 6, 2025, due to the ongoing cold wave.
The extension aims to ensure students and staff benefit from additional rest during the harsh winter conditions.
