Hamdard University honors Talha Talib function

Hamdard University organized a felicitation function yesterday at Madinat-al-Hikmah to honor a young weightlifter Talha Talib who secured 5th position in the final competition of weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics. It has been 38 years since any Pakistani has competed in weightlifting sports in the Olympics.

As per details, Hamdard University invited Talha Talib to grace the occasion of a felicitation function organized at Madinat-al-Hikmah. Prof. Dr. Shabib-ul-Hassan – vice-chancellor, Pervez Ahmed Memon – Registrar, Shahmir Khattak – Director Sports, faculty members and pupils of Hamdard Public School, Hamdard Village School, and St. Joseph School warmly welcomed the guest of honor.

During the conversation, Prof. Dr. Shabib said: “Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, the founder and former Chancellor of Hamdard University, always encouraged healthy sporting activities among the youth. That is why even today sports competitions are preferred in extra-curricular activities at Hamdard University.”

He also highlighted that every year Hamdard University hosts several national inter-university sports competitions under the HEC Sports Calendar.

Shahmir Khattak briefly informed the guest about the sporting activities and facilities provided by the university.

Later, Talha Talib was invited over to the Hamdard Corporate Head Office where he met Mrs. Sadia Rashid – Chancellor of Hamdard University.
