The Mardan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) President Zahir Shah has demanded the government to take practical steps to revive the sick and closed industrial units in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa so as to create maximum employment opportunities through industrial development in the province.
Should be done while the State Bank of Pakistan (STP) should issue instructions to the commercial banks to increase the landing rate in the province like other parts of the country including providing facilities to businesses and investors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He expressed these views in Mardan Talking to media representatives on Tuesday. He said that being the Prime Chamber of Pakistan, Mardan Chamber has played a key role in helping/assistance of helpless people in natural calamities including promoting investment and providing relief to the community in the province. Most of the province’s business and industry imports are linked to mutual trade and transit with Afghanistan. However, there has been a decline in Pakistan-Afghan mutual trade for the past several years, which has had a profound impact on the country’s economy.
Zahir Shah emphasized that there is an urgent need to take measures at the government level for the immediate solution of the problems faced in Pak-Afghan mutual trade and transit trade.
