Govt to likely extend tenure of SECP Chairman

Government has all set to extend the tenure in the term of Chairman. Source has informed, ministry of finance has moved the summery for extension in the term for the approval of Prime Minister followed to the table in cabinet meeting.

Chairman SECP Amir Khan tenure of service will be completed in the end of the first week of coming month.

Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (“SECP”) is a body corporate established under the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan Act, 1997 (“SECP Act”) with the mandate of beneficial regulation of Pakistan’s corporate sector/capital market and insurance industry etc.

Commission is run by Chairman and Commissioners appointed by the Federal Government appointed under Section 5 of SECP Act.

Policy board of SECP is a supervisory body consisting of members appointed by Federal Government under Section 12 of SECP Act.
