Prime Minister Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) Raja Farooq Hadir has said the government would continue relief activities till the rehabilitation of last affected person of earthquake. He expressed theses views during his visit to various affected areas of earthquake here on Thursday. The Prime Minister himself reviewed the damages caused by the quake in Mirpur and other places.
The premier talked to the victims and vowed to continue the rehabilitation work on emergency basis until things are normalized. He also examined the damages in new university Mirpur and its adjourning area. Raja Farooq Haider maintained that teams of engineers will inspect the damaged homes and ensure the formation of earthquake-proof buildings during the process of reconstruction.
Raja Farooq Haider Khan was of the view that majority of the houses witnessed major cracks which are dangerous. “In rehabilitation process, earthquake proof building would be constructed”, he told. The Prime Minister directed the authorities to submit report of restoration work on daily basis. He ordered to provide tents and other living essentials to all the affected families.
He met with affected families and expressed his sorrow and grief over martyrdom of their family members in the earthquake. Cabinet members and other higher officials were present on the occasion. Later, presiding over a high-level meeting in connection with the rescue, relief and rehabilitation process in quake hit areas of Mirpur district, he directed the concerned authorities to ensure the provision of safe drinking water to the affected areas of the region on urgent basis.
