ISLAMABAD- The federal government started implementing the conditions in advance in a bid to please the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the sources close to the development said on Saturday.
The sources said that that Rs2116 billion in capacity charges from electricity consumers in the next fiscal year.
The base price of electricity per unit has been set at Rs27.66 per unit, with the electricity price at Rs9.69 and capacity charges at Rs17.66 per unit.
A total of Rs3277 billion will be collected from electricity consumers in the next fiscal year.
The sources say that under IMF’s conditions, Rs1116 billion will be collected in the form of electricity charges and Rs 2116 billion in capacity charges.
NEPRA issued a decision regarding the sale of electricity to consumers for the next fiscal year, which would apply to all consumers across the country.
NEPRA sources further state that in the next fiscal year, it is estimated that electricity produced from furnace oil will cost up to Rs. 87 per unit, Rs. 37 per unit from wind, and Rs. 36 per unit from solar, while electricity produced from imported coal could cost up to Rs. 371 per unit.
The sources further ssid that in the next fiscal year, the cost of electricity production from LNG is estimated at Rs30 per unit, and from hydropower, it is estimated at Rs 6.18 per unit.
