Govt taking steps to promote empathy in society: CM Says Pakistanis are proud of their cricket team’s performance

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Friday declared that the religion of Islam teaches love and compassion towards all human beings. “Allah Almighty loves those who serve the people and do well with others.”

In his message issued on Friday, the chief minister underscored that mercy and benevolence are effective means of promoting love and brotherhood in society, he noted. He said the PTI-led government was taking steps to promote empathy in society.

Helping the poor and weak has a merciful reward; he said and added that a network of shelter homes and almonries was being established to accommodate the poor and unattended strata.

Love for other human beings and societal norms of kindness and benevolence make life easier, he affirmed.

We have to pay tribute to those who prefer others over themselves. Today, we all need to promote the norms of kindness, brotherhood and tolerance in society to reaffirm one’s commitment to the purpose of life, he concluded.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar returned home after performing Umrah in Saudi Arabia along with family members.

On the other hand, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said the elements of success and defeat are part and parcel of all sports activities adding that Pakistani players have notched up the praise of the people despite their defeat in the T20 World Cup semi-final.

In a statement issued on Friday, the CM said Pakistanis are proud of their team’s performance. The defeat in the semi-final is tragic but the players have played well, he maintained.

There is no need to lose hope and the players should move forward while correcting their mistakes; he said and added that players’ performance depicts a bright future of the national cricket team.

Meanwhile, the CM directed to take steps to control smog in Lahore and other cities of the province adding that effective measures be taken to overcome the causes.

He directed the provincial administration, transport and environmental protection departments’ officials to go into the field to take action.

The government has also set up a smog monitoring cell and any slackness in implementing smog-related SOPs would not be tolerated, he informed.

He directed action against smoke emitting vehicles adding that people be sensitized about the timely tuning of such vehicles.

Meanwhile, Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat said that as per the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, steps have been expedited to end the stay orders prevailing in cases related to the provincial government and progress in this regard would be reviewed every week and every month.

He was addressing a meeting of the Provincial Monitoring Committee chaired by him at the Civil Secretariat.

Secretary Law, Advocate General Punjab, Solicitor Punjab and other officers were also present on the occasion.

The law secretary said in the briefing that at present there were stay orders in about 3,000 government cases in all the courts across Punjab.

For speedy disposal of cases, it was decided to divide them into three categories based on financial matters, property and miscellaneous cases۔ Solicitor Punjab and Focal Persons will submit progress report on weekly basis in this regard.

It was also decided in the meeting that in future, government civil cases would be filed on the principal seat of the Supreme Court.
