Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, National Heritage, and Culture Attaullah Tarar has said that government is sincerely engaged in negotiations with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf with sole purpose of moving forward for political stability in the country.
Talking to media in Gujranwala on Saturday, the Information Minister said government wants to build on momentum of hard-earned economic progress during last few months and political stability is inevitable to this end.
The Minister mentioned with satisfaction that economic achievements of government are evident and are being acknowledged at every level even by our political opponents. He said incidents of violence like May 9, cannot be overlooked and anyone who commits acts of violence has to face the law. The Minister said that the govt is sincerely engaged in negotiations with PTI with sole purpose of moving forward for political stability in the country.
Tarar said there was irrefutable evidence against all those people who have been sentenced so far in May 9 related incidents. He however stated that right to fair trial has been ensured. Tarar stressed that overlooking PTI’s anti-state activities would be tantamount to opening the gates of jails (and releasing the culprits). Letting PTI’s anti-state activities go unpunished would render the country’s jails meaningless. While acknowledging the seriousness of the crimes, the government is negotiating with PTI to prioritize national stability.
He said the party was promoting an incomprehensible false narrative about military court convictions, often changing its stance with remarks like “Are we slaves?” PTI often makes statements and then reverses its position.
