Govt jacks up prices of petrol by Rs3.20

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday approved an increase of Rs3.20 per litre in the price of petrol, a little over a third of what the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) had sought.
The Prime Minister Imran Khan also approved an increase of Rs2.95 per litre in the price of high-speed diesel. Additionally, the prices of kerosene and light diesel oil were also increased by Rs3 per litre and Rs4.42, respectively.
The price of kerosene oil has been increased up to Rs3 per litre instead of Rs10.5; the rate of light diesel was jacked up to Rs4.42 instead of Rs15.33.
The new prices will be taken into effect from January 16 on Friday mid-night. It is the second increase in the prices of petroleum products within a month.
Similarly, the price of Superior Kerosene Oil, has been increased by Rs3 to Rs76.65 per litre, from its previous level of Rs73.65 per litre.
