Sindh government has imposed a ban on the display of weapons for three months. The ban, effective immediately, prohibits private security guards and individuals from displaying weapons in public, including in vehicles. According to the notification issued by the Sindh Home Department, private security guards are only allowed to carry weapons at their duty sites and not during transportation. Law enforcement personnel, however, are exempt from the ban during their duty hours.
The ban comes in response to the increasing number of street crime incidents in Karachi, resulting in 71 deaths so far this year. Recently, a 27-year-old engineer, ItteqaMooen Khan, was shot and killed by armed robbers in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, highlighting the need for stricter measures to control weapon display and usage.
