Islamabad: In a bid to celebrate the 24th anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear blasts, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to hold a 10-day celebration across the country. In this regard, the Prime Minister ordered directed the governments of the federation, the four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, to hold joint celebrations.

In a tweet, the federal minister for information and broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed authorities that Takbir Day (May 28: the day when Pakistan successfully conducted six nuclear blasts at Chaghi, in Balochistan and became a nuclear state) should be celebrated with national spirit in the style of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of 75 years of establishment of Pakistan.

The federal minister mentioned that the National celebrations on Yom Takbir would begin on May 19 as Prime Minister had directed the governments of the federation, the four provinces, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan to hold joint celebrations.

Underlining the significance of the day, Marriyum Aurangzeb said, “May 28, 1998, is a day of national pride and a great history of Pakistan never giving up for its independence, sovereignty, and national interests.”

She added that under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, who was the prime minister in 1998, Pakistan was made a nuclear power, and she pledged that after making it a nuclear state, now they would make it an economic power.

“This is the historic day when despite the pressure and threats of external forces, the national leadership decided to make the defence of the country invincible and raised the head of the nation with pride.”
