Govt committed to prosperity of lawyers, says Basharat

Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat on Friday said that the Punjab government under the leadership of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken concrete steps for welfare and prosperity of lawyers and strengthening of bar associations.

“Grants have been given to financially weak lawyers during Covid-19 pandemic besides Bar Associations up to the tehsil level indiscriminately.”

Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat was talking to a delegation of Punjab Bar Council who called him in at Civil Secretariat here on Friday. The delegation was led by Vice Chairman Punjab Bar Council Farhan Shahbaz.

The meeting discussed the welfare of bar associations and lawyers. Raja Basharat said that the role of bench and bar was very important in providing speedy and cheap justice.

He said that the problems of the lawyers’ community would be resolved on priority basis in future too in consultation with the lawyers associations.

On the occasion, Farhan Shehbaz said, “We are thankful to CM Usman Buzdar and Law Minister Raja Basharat for their commitment to support the lawyers.

We will continue to provide all possible assistance to the Punjab Government for its efforts in provision of speedy justice.”

Chairman Executive Committee Muhammad Afzal, Chairman Welfare Chaudhry Babar, Secretary Lahore High Court Bar Mohsin Abbas and other office bearers were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has formed a provincial committee headed by Punjab Minister for Law and Cooperatives Raja Basharat to celebrate Shan-i-Rehmatulil Aalmeen from the 1st to 12th of Rabiul Awal with great religious fervour.

According to the Terms of Reference (TORs), arrangements will be finalized for holding various programs, competitions, recitation of Naat and Sirat Conference during the prescribed period.

Establishment of Sirat Chair in different universities is also included in the TORs of the committee.

The committee will make recommendations to the Chief Minister after consultation with all stakeholders.

The members of the committee also include the Provincial Minister for Auqaf, Minister for School Education, Minister for Higher Education, Spokesperson to the Punjab Government for Information of , Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab, Additional IG Punjab Police and Secretaries of relevant departments.
