The federal government on Monday approved the formation of the commission to probe the murder of investigative journalist and anchorperson Arshad Sharif in Kenya and submit its report in 30 days.
Sources said that in this connection the federal cabinet approved the summary to give go ahead signal to the formation of the commission under the Pakistan Commission of Inquiry Act, 2017.
Former judge of Lahore High Court Justice Abdus Shakoor Paracha was appointed the head of the commission, while other members were Additional IG Police Dr. Usman Anwar and Intelligence Bureau’s Umar Shahid Hamid.
The Federal Investigative Agency would also assist the commission in the probe. Senior journalist Arshad Sharif was shot dead in the outskirts of Kenyan capital Nairobi, a week ago, on October 24, 2022.
