Governors confer civil awards to prominent personalities

Governor Punjab Baligh-ur-Rehman conferred civil awards to various prominent personalities from different walks of life on Thursday. The ceremony was held at Governor House in Lahore. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the civil awards investiture ceremony was held at Governor House in Peshawar. Governor Haji Ghulam Ali conferred the presidential civil awards on behalf of the president of Pakistan to eleven personalities of the province for exemplary services in their respective fields.

In Gilgit-Baltistan, the awards distribution ceremony was held at the Governor House in Gilgit. Governor Syed Mehdi Shah conferred five pride of performance awards on behalf of the President of Pakistan to different personalities for their outstanding services in their respective fields. Earlier President Dr Arif Alvi, at an investiture ceremony in Islamabad today, conferred civil awards upon Pakistani and foreign nationals for their services in different fields.

These awards include eight Nishan-e-Imtiaz, 35 Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, 21 Hilal-e-Imtiaz, 30 Sitara-e-Imtiaz, nine Presidential Pride of Performance, 21 Tamgha-e-Shujat, eight Sitara-e-Shujat, one each Hilal-e-Pakistan, Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam and Tamgha-e-Khidmat. Former Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz, former senator late Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo, late Justice Bhagwan Das, music composer Ahmed Ghulam Ali Chagla, poet Sufi Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum, actor late Muhammad Qavi Khan, squash players Jahangir Khan and Jan Sher Khan received Nishan-Imtiaz.

Eminent Urdu News Reader of Radio Pakistan Taskeen Zafar is also amongst the recipients of Presidential Pride of Performance award.
