Governor Sindh receives Ethiopia’s top honor for strengthening ties

Governor Sindh Muhammad Kamran Khan Tessori has been awarded Ethiopia’s highest honor, the Ethio-Pakistan Fraternity Award, in a grand ceremony at the Governor House. The award was presented by Ethiopian Ambassador and Special Envoy Dr. JemalBeker, recognizing Governor Tessori’s significant contributions to strengthening the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Ethiopia.

The ceremony was hosted by Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul General of Ethiopia in Karachi and Chairman of the Pakistan-Ethiopia Business Council. Tawab praised the longstanding cultural and economic ties between the two countries and highlighted the expanding opportunities for business collaboration. He encouraged Pakistani entrepreneurs to explore Ethiopia’s vibrant market, drawing on his experiences from previous trade delegations to the country.

Governor Tessori expressed his deep appreciation for the prestigious award, acknowledging the efforts of Ambassador Beker and the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad in fostering stronger diplomatic and economic relations. He noted that the launch of Ethiopian Airlines in Pakistan has been a significant development, opening new channels for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Ambassador Beker lauded Governor Tessori’s role in enhancing people-to-people connections and promoting Ethiopian Airlines, which has been instrumental in advancing bilateral cooperation. He emphasized that Governor Tessori’s efforts have laid a robust foundation for continued collaboration in various sectors, including trade, culture, and regional development.

Ibrahim Khalid Tawab also underscored the promising opportunities for Pakistani businesses in Ethiopia, citing the country’s rapid economic growth and strategic location in Africa. He assured that the Pakistan-Ethiopia Business Council will continue to support and facilitate trade and investment between the two nations. ZubairMotiwala, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), highlighted the potential for increased trade between Pakistan and Ethiopia, particularly in agriculture, manufacturing, and textiles.

He emphasized the need for both countries to leverage this potential to boost mutual economic benefits. The evening also featured an Ethiopian cultural show, celebrating the rich heritage of Ethiopia with traditional dance and music performances.
