In response to concerns raised by local communities and politicians, Governor Punjab Sardar Salim Hyder Khan has lifted the ban on cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, reassuring farmers and constituents of his commitment to addressing their needs and safeguarding their interests.
Former candidate of the Provincial Assembly Constituency PP 4, Malik Riasat Ali Sidharail, expressed sentiments shared by many, asserting that while the prevention of diseases like dengue virus is paramount, banning cattle markets is not the solution.
With Eid-ul-Adha approaching, hundreds of villagers, particularly in Punjab’s Attock district, rely on these markets for their livelihood throughout the year. Sidharail condemned the ban, highlighting its adverse impact on the livelihoods of the poor and middle class.—Our Correspondent
