Governor Sindh Imran Ismail met a delegation from Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) at Governor House and appreciated the efforts of the students of UIT. The delegation comprised of Professor Dr. Shoaib Zaidi along with four students, Group Lead Bilal Khan, Sadaf Khan, Fazeela and H.M Mobashir Ghaffar were part of the delegation. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and introduce the “Speech Generation Glove” (SG Glove) for the hearing impaired. By using this glove a normal person can easily understand ‘sign language’ used by individuals with hearing disabilities.
The main reason and importance of the SG glove’s introduction is necessary for people with special needs in Pakistan to make their routine life easier in terms of communication without any hindrance so that they may lead normal lives.
Right now the average number of special people in Pakistan with hearing impaired is approximately in thousands out of which many of them are intelligent and talented students which are important asset of our nation and brighten us in upcoming future.
The governor said that the government is ready and he will make sure to appreciate these students at all levels. “These intelligent and talented students are important and useful to our nation and contribute to society.” Governor Sindh said the usage of Pakistani sign language by the SG glove at the grass root level will be helpful for people with special needs.
The students requested the governor to provide funds to take part in international competitions. Governor Sindh provided funds to students of UIT to participate in ‘IEEE YESIST12-2019 Competition’ which will take place in Stamford International University, Thailand this year.
