ISLAMABAD – Per tola Gold prices fell to Rs453,436, while the rate for 10 grams fell by Rs3,257 to Rs388,749.
The latest drop came a day after gold posted a substantial increase. On Wednesday, the price of one tola had risen by Rs7,900 to Rs457,236, highlighting the sharp day-to-day swings that have characterised the local bullion market.

Movements in the international bullion market continue to play a major role in determining domestic gold prices. Gold has remained highly sensitive to changes in US monetary policy, currency movements, oil prices and geopolitical developments.
International gold was recently trading around the $4,300-per-ounce level, with market participants assessing the implications of the latest Federal Reserve decision and its outlook for interest rates. Reuters reported spot gold at $4,308.57 an ounce on Thursday, after the metal had touched a near six-week low the previous day.
Pakistan’s bullion market has experienced significant fluctuations during 2026. Gold recorded a powerful rally during the early part of the year, reaching its highest levels around late January. At that stage, the international-equivalent price was estimated at approximately Rs1.516 million per ounce, with the corresponding domestic price moving above Rs500,000 per tola depending on the prevailing conversion and market rate.
The market then staged a partial recovery in August. The average price during the month was around Rs1.225 million per ounce, while domestic gold climbed to nearly Rs484,000 per tola around August 25–26. September, however, has so far been comparatively softer. The average international-equivalent price has been estimated at around Rs1.209 million per ounce, while local rates have remained below the August peak.
Over the 30-day period from mid-August to mid-September, domestic gold prices were down by roughly 1.3% to 1.4%, moving from a high near Rs484,000 per tola to a recent low in the Rs445,000–449,000 range.
On a year-on-year basis, however, gold remains about 15% higher in Pakistani rupee terms. The longer-term picture is even more pronounced. Over the past five to ten years, gold prices have risen sharply, reflecting both the increase in international bullion prices and the weakening of the Pakistani rupee against major currencies.
For now, the market is moving largely sideways with a mild downward bias from its August peak, although global monetary policy, the rupee-dollar exchange rate and geopolitical developments remain important variables for the direction of gold prices in the coming sessions.
