KARACHI – Gold prices in Pakistan continued their downward trend on Monday, with the price of one tola falling by Rs12,800.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of one tola of gold dropped to Rs438,136.
The price of 10 grams of gold also declined by Rs10,973, bringing it down to Rs375,631.
Based on the 24-karat benchmark rate, 22-karat gold is estimated at around Rs401,958 per tola, while 21-karat gold stands at approximately Rs383,369 per tola.
Meanwhile, the estimated price of 18-karat gold is around Rs328,602 per tola.
Silver prices followed the same trend, with the price of one tola falling by Rs325 to Rs6,578.
Gold prices also declined in the international market, where the precious metal fell by $128 to $4,156 per ounce.
Gold prices can fluctuate due to movements in international bullion rates, changes in the value of the US dollar, global economic uncertainty and geopolitical tensions.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Stock Exchange remained in negative territory during trading on Monday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index down 224.81 points, or 0.13%, at 170,540.41.
The index had closed at 170,765.22 in the previous session. During the trading session, it touched a high of 171,126.52 and a low of 170,120.49.
Trading volume stood at 61,791,540 shares, while the market remained open.
