Islamabad: For the second consecutive day, the price of gold edged lower in Pakistan on Monday, falling marginally by Rs200 per tola.

According to the All-Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association (APSGJA), the price of gold decreased by Rs200 per tola and Rs172 per 10 grams to settle at Rs204,300 and Rs175,154, respectively.

At the same, the precious metal remains to be investors’ favourite option to pour their money into as economic uncertainty continues to haunt the cash-strapped country, whose reserves have fallen to just above $3 billion.

Similarly, the much-awaited talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have also entered their final phase, with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif admitting last week that they were giving a “tough time” to the finance minister and his team.

Meanwhile, silver prices in the domestic market remained stable at Rs2,250 per tola and Rs1,929 per 10 grams, respectively.
