KARACHI – Gold prices continued their dramatic climb in Pakistan, surging by another Rs5,200 per tola as the domestic bullion market tracked a powerful rally in international prices.
The price of gold reached Rs477,136 per tola, marking a fresh jump after Thursday’s sharp increase of Rs13,700, when the precious metal had closed at Rs471,936 per tola, while 10 grams of gold climbed by Rs4,458 to Rs409,067.

Silver also joined the rally, rising by Rs210 per tola to Rs7,379, adding to the broader surge in precious metals.
At the beginning of the month, 24-karat gold was trading roughly between Rs420,000 and Rs440,000 per tola. By August 20, prices had moved above Rs460,000 in several market reports before Friday’s latest surge pushed the rate to Rs477,136. The overall increase during the period is estimated at more than 8%, although exact prices varied across sources and trading locations.
The sustained rise has been influenced by a combination of factors, including the sharp movement in international gold prices, fluctuations in the Pakistani rupee, domestic buying activity and changes in local market premiums.
With prices remaining elevated and volatility increasing, Pakistan’s gold market has entered the final stretch of August with strong bullish momentum. Friday’s Rs5,200 jump, coming immediately after Thursday’s massive Rs13,700 increase, underlines the speed at which the market has been moving.
