Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani and Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Imran Nadeem Shigri on Tuesday discussed the prevailing political situation in the country, regional developments, the newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, and key issues confronting the region.
During a meeting, Gilani congratulated the Speaker on his election as Speaker of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly and expressed his best wishes to him and all newly elected members of the assembly.
The Senate chairman said the people of Gilgit-Baltistan had reposed their trust in the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
He said the PPP believed in public service, democratic values and politics focused on the welfare and well-being of the people.
He expressed confidence that all possible measures would be taken to meet the expectations of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Gilani assured him that every possible support would be extended for the development, prosperity and welfare of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. He said the Senate, as an effective constitutional forum, played an important role in strengthening coordination, harmony and cooperation among all federating units.
