Acting President of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gilani has expressed profound grief and heartfelt condolences over the passing of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway.
In his message, Gilani conveyed sympathies to the Royal Family and the people of Norway over the demise of the Norwegian monarch, saying that Pakistan stood in solidarity with Norway in this hour of grief.
He prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and strength, courage and fortitude for the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss.
King Harald V, who had been Norway’s monarch since 1991, died on August 28 at the age of 89. His death has been followed by a period of national mourning in Norway, where people have gathered to pay their respects to the late king.
Harald was known for his close connection with the Norwegian people and his efforts to give the monarchy a modern and ac-cessible character. His public role included supporting national unity and standing alongside citizens during times of tragedy and hardship. Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre described him as a warm, compassionate and unifying monarch.
Gilani’s message reflected Pakistan’s solidarity with the Norwegian Royal Family and people at a time of mourning.
