Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has condemned the growing opposition towards the Pakistani military, equating it to supporting terrorists who are battling the armed forces. Speaking at a Defence Day event organized by the Sindh government’s Information Department, Ghani stressed that sentiments against the military must be eradicated from the country.
“The army’s role was once limited to protecting Pakistan’s borders from external threats, but the rise of terrorism has drawn them into defending the internal security of the country,” he said. He praised the collective efforts of the Pakistani armed forces, Rangers, and police in combating terrorism orchestrated by external enemies.
While Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani acknowledged that the military should refrain from political involvement, he stressed that blaming an entire institution for the actions of a few individuals was unjust. “Hundreds of thousands of soldiers are always willing to lay down their lives to protect our frontiers,” he said, adding that terrorists became the primary beneficiaries of anti-military rhetoric. Ghani called for a unified response to criticism of the military, emphasizing that honoring the martyrs boosts soldiers’ morale, motivating them to continue their sacrifices for the country.
“Terrorism can only be eradicated by strengthening the military and state institutions,” he stated, highlighting the essential role of the armed forces in safeguarding the nation from both external enemies and internal threats.
