The senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, Saeed Ghani, has said that former prime minister Imran Khan has emerged as a security threat to the country.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, Ghani who is also PPP Karachi President said that all the people who were part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were not anti-state elements as they were patriotic citizens but they were misled by Imran Khan.

He said the PTI Chairman was still being given undue favourable treatment as that was why he had the courage to talk against the military, judiciary, and media.

He said the PTI Chairman had been continuously talking against the military and other state institutions.

He said that Imran Khan had become upset as the establishment had confined itself to its original role. Ghani said it was the desire of the PTI Chairman that the military should once again meddle in political affairs.

He demanded that action should be taken against President, former PM, speaker, and deputy speaker in accordance with Article six of the constitution after the Supreme Court’s verdict had also declared that these persons belonging to the PTI had violated the Constitution.

He mentioned that the PTI leader Shahbaz Gill had brazenly provoked the army personnel to commit treason as that was not a new thing on the part of the PTI.

He recalled that the social media activists associated with the PTI had earlier run a negative campaign against the army when its senior officers were martyred in the helicopter crash while taking part in the flood relief activities.

Ghani said that Imran Khan had emerged as the first political leader in the country who had received funding from Israeli and Indian lobbies.

He said that although the PTI had secured victory in the by-election held in Karachi the previous day its candidate had polled very less votes out of a total of over 500,000 registered voters in the constituency.

He said the People’s Party had the desire to contest the by-election from the constituency in Karachi it had withdrawn its candidate in favour of the Muttahida Quami Movement after receiving such directives from the party leadership.

He was of the view that it was difficult for the voters of the PPP to vote in favour of MQM’s candidate in an election.

He demanded that PTI leader Shahbaz Gill should be imprisoned in the jail of Karachi or Sukkur so that the Punjab government couldn’t provide him with any undue favour. He said that earlier people belonging to Sindh had been kept in the jails of Punjab despite that cases had been lodged against them in their native province to prevent the Sindh government from extending undue benefits to them.
