RAWALPINDI – Former Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment by a Field General Court Martial, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Thursday.
According to ISPR, the court martial proceedings against the retired general were initiated under the Pakistan Army Act and continued for 15 months. The military court concluded the trial by awarding a 14-year rigorous jail term.
ISPR stated that Faiz Hameed was tried on four charges, including involvement in political activities, violation of the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing unlawful harm to relevant individuals.
Following a detailed and exhaustive legal process, the accused was found guilty on all charges. The sentence will come into effect from December 11, 2025.
The military’s media wing added that the Field General Court Martial fulfilled all legal requirements and provided the accused full legal rights, including the choice to appoint a team of defence lawyers.
ISPR further noted that matters related to the accused’s alleged collusion with political elements, political disruption, and destabilisation efforts are being examined separately.
Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed previously served as DG ISI and also held the position of Peshawar Corps Commander.
