A foreign style government must not be imposed on Afghanistan, and Afghans are capable of forming their government, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi said on Saturday at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey.

Muttaqi said efforts are underway to increase inclusivity in the government.

Muttaqi and his accompanying delegation were invited to the Antalya Diplomacy Forum by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

“Foreign versions (of the government) and foreign ideology must not be imposed on Afghans. The former version of the (government) was tried but it did not succeed,” Muttaqi said.

Muttaqi said the Islamic Emirate has been attempting to rescue the Afghan economy and there have been several areas of progress, including government actions to prevent economic collapse.

He suggested that a weak Afghan government would not benefit anyone, and, therefore, efforts to undermine the current government must stop.

The acting minister once again stressed that the Islamic Emirate has met all conditions for international recognition.

“I think… the title of the panel is how to cooperate (with) the realities, with the current realities,” said Kamil Aydin, a member of the Turkey’s parliament.

Lack of recognition of the “Afghan government is not something which is punishing just the Taliban’s government. It is a punishing the whole of Afghanistan,” said Fatima Gailani, former head of the Afghan Red Crescent Society.

Speaking at the same conference, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov said that the current situation in Afghanistan has a direct impact on the region.

“We are interested in stability and security” in Afghanistan, he said.

The Islamic Emirate took over Afghanistan more than seven months ago but has yet to be recognized by any foreign country.

Meanwhile, acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi and his delegation met with Western diplomats and discussed a range of topics in Oslo, said the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry in a tweet.

Meanwhile, a member of the Islamic Emirate delegation said they would also meet with the representatives of United States, Britain, Germany, Italy, Norway and European Union.

Tuesday is the final day of the Oslo summit and the second day of talks between the Islamic Emirate delegation and Western diplomats.

“In this meeting acting FM Amir Khan Muttaqi, met with EU special envoy for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson in Oslo today and called for good relations and cooperation, Niklasson pledged the EU will continue providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. The Afghanistan PM welcomed their support and called for better relations and cooperation between countries,” Balkhi tweeted.

In the meantime, a member of the delegation said they will discuss political, economic, security, human rights and the fight against terrorism with the Western diplomats.

“Our hope is that we will be able to reach a common understanding in this meeting, which will be a source of hope for the people of Afghanistan, “said Abdul Latif Nazari, a member of the delegation of the Islamic Emirate

Earlier, the State Department said that building an inclusive government and delivering humanitarian aid to Afghanistan will be on the agenda of the Oslo summit.

“I consider these meetings a good step toward resolving the current problems of the government of Afghanistan, “said Ahmad Khan, a political analyst.

“The Islamic Emirate must comply with the legitimate demands of the International community and pave the way for the diplomatic relations,” said Hamed Aziz Mojaddedi, university lecturer.

The Oslo summit discussions have been held behind closed doors and away from the presence of media.
