ISLAMABAD – Foreign Office of Pakistan confirmed coordinated air raids in eastern Afghanistan which targeted terror camps of Khawarij.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, spokesperson of foreign office, confirmed that the country had carried out an intelligence-based operation targeting terrorists in Afghanistan’s border regions, following security threats to Pakistanis.
Security forces conducted operations said border operations are based on precise intelligence and are carefully planned to minimize risks, she said, and added that Islamabad prioritizes security of its people, while also respecting Afghanistan’s sovereignty and integrity.
The development comes amid tensions between Islamabad and Kabul, with Pakistani government accusing Kabul of failing to act against TTP, which Pakistan claims uses Afghan soil to launch attacks. Afghan authorities also repeatedly denied these allegations, leading to a diplomatic standoff between the two countries.
Afghan authorities denounced airstrikes, claiming they targeted civilians, resulting in 46 deaths and several injuries.
Tensions continue unabated between neighboring sides and overall situation worsened due to frequent border clashes and presence of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which Pakistan accuses Taliban of harboring.
