Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Hussain Qureshi along with Punjab Minister for Energy Dr Akhter Malik, Special Assistant to PM Amir Dogar and Parliamentary Secretary on Information Nadeem Qureshi inaugurated the retrofitting project of Nishtar Hospital and University.
Earlier in the morning, FM Shah Mahmood and Dr Akhter Malik also performed groundbreaking of shifting Children Hospital Multan on solar energy.
While addressing the media, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi appreciated the Energy department’s efforts for launching clean and green energy based projects.
Dr Akhter Malik said that under Naya Punjab Solatisation Project, the government was determined to turn Punjab into Solar project.
He said the previous regime not only started expensive projects based on imported fuel but also imposed ban on projects based on alternative resources.
He said our government has lifted ban on alternative resources and trying to boost cheap and clean energy production through solar power.
He said Punjab was all set to become Asia’s number one producer of energy on solar given all the new solar based projects were completed timely. Our target is to add 30 percent of solar energy in our energy mix by 2030.
The 460 kW Solar project at Children’s Hospital will be completed by end of July 2021. The hospital will get 15 million per month saving in its electricity bill, said the provincial minister.
He said so far over eleven thousand schools had been solarised while solarisation of all BHUs and public sector universities was under process.
He said he was lucky to have a great team in energy department under the leadership of Secretary energy Mr. Amir Jan an instant doer who has put the department on fast track with his hard work and deeper understanding of the department.
