Tarnol Police on Monday arrested five members of formal jail bird ‘Cobra’ dacoit gang and recovered snatched mobile phones and weapons and dagger from their possession.
On directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan to launched crackdown against criminals specially involved in street crime and orders of DIG (Operations) Waqar Ud din Syed to all zonal officers for accelerating efforts to curb the crime in the city and showing no laxity in this regard, SP (Saddar) Sarfraz Ahmed Virk constituted special teams under supervision of SDPO Khalid Mehmood Awan including SHO Tarnol Police Station Sub-Inspector Alamgir Khan, ASI Muhammad Ishaq along with other officials.
The special team arrested five members of notorious ‘Cobra’ gang including Waleed Khan s/o Abdullah, Bilal s/o Muhammad Khan, Asif-Ur-Rehman s/o Juma Gul, Nusrullah s/o Gulam Gul, Naiz Ahmed s/o Jan Muhammad, all hailing from Afghanistan,
Police team also recovered six snatched mobile phones and three pistols along with ammunition and one dagger from their possession.
The nabbed persons, during preliminary investigation have confessed their involvement in several criminal and snatching incidents in the various areas of twin cities. Cases have been registered against them and further investigation is underway. IGP Islamabad Muhammad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan and DIG Operations Waqar Ud Din Syed have appreciated overall performance of Tarnol Police and announced commendation certificates along with cash rewards for policemen who arrested these gangsters.
