Raaz-e-Fun Sadequain, a short film on the life and art of Pakistan’s legendary artist, Sadequain, was screened at the French cultural center, Alliance Française, on Friday evening.
The event was hosted by Sadequain Foundation USA in collaboration with Gallery 21 and Alliance Françaised’Islamabad.
The 30-minute film, produced by Sadequain Foundation USA, explored the life, philosophy, and artistic legacy of Sadequain, one of Pakistan’s most celebrated and influential painters.
The film delves into the mysteries behind Sadequain’s creative journey, shedding light on his unique style, prolific work ethic, and enduring cultural impact.
A number of artists, art enthusiasts, students and admirers of Sadequain’s work watched the film. The participants greatly admired the film saying it truly depicted the art of Sadequain and his status among artists.
Talking to Pakistan Observer on the occasion, ZohaibChaudhry, the Director Planning and Promotion at Sadequain Foundation USA, said: “Screening of this film is a big achievement of SadequainFoundation . After the screening of the film at the Alliance Française, we also intend to dissiminate it at academic level so that young students get more familiarity with the art and achievements of Sadequain “
Dr. FarrukhSier, a prominent artist and Director of Gallery 21, described the film as a well deserved tribute to Sadequain.
He said: “the collaboration of Gallery 21 in the screening of this film is part of our efforts to remember the services of great artists, like Sadequain.”
He said Gallery 21 has signed an MOU with Sadequain Foundation USA under which both organizations will jointly host any even concerning Sadequain.
It is worth mentioning here that Sadequain Foundation has published more than 35 books on Sadequain’s life and work, and curated more than 100 seminars and exhibitions.
Abel Monem. Director Alliance Française, said hosting a film on the life and achievements of Sadequain was a matter of pride for Alliance Française.
“Basically the objective of Alliance Française is to promote French language and culture but we are also endeavoring to strengthen bonds between the French culture and local cultures.
That is why we are encouraging young artists in the realms of films, art and other spheres of culture,” he added.
