Field Marshal Asim Munir Reaffirms Pakistans Commitment To Stronger Military Ties With Indonesia

RAWALPINDI – Pakistan and Indonesia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence and security ties during a high-level meeting between the military leadership of the two countries at General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi, ISPR said Monday.

In a statement, the military’s media wing said Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali, Chief of the Indonesian Navy, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) of Pakistan, with discussions focusing on regional security, matters of mutual interest and opportunities to expand defence cooperation.

Two sides expressed satisfaction with the existing military-to-military relationship and agreed on the importance of further broadening bilateral engagement, particularly through professional training, defence collaboration and joint exercises.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its longstanding and brotherly relationship with Indonesia, with defence and security cooperation remaining key areas of bilateral engagement. Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali also appreciated the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their contributions towards regional peace and stability.

The talks show growing emphasis by both countries on strengthening military cooperation and building closer institutional ties in support of regional security and stability.

Pakistan and Indonesia are moving to deepen their longstanding defence partnership, with greater emphasis on military training, professional exchanges, joint exercises and defence cooperation.

The relationship also holds growing potential in naval engagement, maritime security and defence technology, offering both countries opportunities to share expertise and strengthen operational cooperation.
