RAWALPINDI – COAS & CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir attended Christmas celebrations at Christ Church, joining Christian community in Rawalpindi to mark the joyous occasion.
He extended heartfelt greetings and wished the community peace, prosperity, and harmony. Paying tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Field Marshal stressed Founder’s vision of equality, freedom, and religious tolerance, underlining the protection of minority rights as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s ideology.
During interaction with congregation, Field Marshal Munir hailed enduring contributions of Pakistani Christians to national development and security, including generations of distinguished service in the Pakistan Armed Forces.

He stressed importance of interfaith harmony, mutual respect, and unity, asserting that Pakistan’s strength lies in its diversity, equal opportunities, and shared constitutional values beyond religion, ethnicity, caste, or creed.
COAS & CDF reaffirmed Pakistan Armed Forces’ commitment to safeguarding dignity, security, and equal rights of all citizens. Christian community leaders expressed gratitude, praising Armed Forces for fostering religious harmony, national unity, and the protection of the homeland.
Adding to festive cheer, President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conveyed their Christmas greetings to Christian community in Pakistan and around the globe.
President Zardari highlighted season’s message of love and humanity, quoting Quaid-e-Azam: “You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste, or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State.” He called the occasion a symbol of peace, hope, and unity.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif prayed that birth of Hazrat Isa (A.S) brings stability, peace, and prosperity to Christian community. He termed Christmas as celebration of tolerance, goodwill, and harmony, and recognized the sacrifices of the Christian community in combating terrorism to maintain national peace.
This event stands out as powerful affirmation of Pakistan’s commitment to inclusivity, unity, and interfaith harmony, sending a strong message of solidarity to the nation.
Christmas in Pakistan is celebrated by Christian minority, who observe festival with both religious devotion and community festivities. Churches across major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad hold midnight masses, special prayers, and nativity plays, while homes and churches are decorated with lights, stars, and Christmas trees.
