After getting directions from the Interior Ministry, the Federal Investigation Agency will register cases against seven top tier PTI leaders for making insinuating statements against the top military leadership in the country. Sources revealed on Saturday that the investigating agency after taking stock of all legal aspects will register cases against the leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders for their insinuating statements against the state institutions. The FIA has contacted the Law Ministry to seek their help on legal affairs. Sources were of the view that apart from PTI Chairman Imran Khan, the FIA could register cases against Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Farrukh Habib and Ijazul Haq. The cases would be lodged at different circles of the FIA, sources concluded. The Pakistan armed forces while reacting to an earlier news conference of PTI Chairman Imran Khan requested the government to initiate legal action over defamation and false accusations.

In a statement, the military’s media wing Inter Services Public Relations said the baseless and irresponsible allegations by the PTI chief against the institution and particularly a senior army officer are absolutely unacceptable and uncalled for.
