FFC organizes corporate conversation on climate change

Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC) in collaboration with Ministry of Climate Change Government of Pakistan, United Nations Development Program, Planning Commission and Corporate Social Responsibility Centre Pakistan (CSRCP) organized conversation on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) to discuss Climate Change SDG 13 and SDGs relevant to chemical sector.
Brig Arshad Mehmood (Retd) Head of Department Corporate Social Responsibility, FFC in his opening address welcomed the distinguished guests and opened the house.
Mr. Azhar Ali, an environment engineer presented key note on Climate Change SDG 13, its impact on business and countries at large, the risks of no action and business opportunities and products which can be capitalized by aligning business activities to mitigate climate change.
Mr. Fauz ul Azeem, Sr. Manager Sustainability and Business Strategy Interloop Limited presented key note on SDGs related to chemical sector, the opportunities provided by the SDGs and business actions required to support SDGs through effective chemical management and disposal as well as offering new products directly contributing towards revenues and helping to meet the SDGs.
During the panel discussion eminent panellists shared their views on the benefits offered by the SDGs and emphasized on the need to align corporate strategies in support of SDGs and to create enabling environment by Government along with partnerships among government and private sector to reap the benefits offered by SDGs. Mr. Arif Masud Mirza Regional Head of Policy MENASA, ACCA, Pakistan moderated the panel discussion.
The panellists for the session were Ministry of Climate Change, Mr. Shahid Farooq, Project Manager UNDP, Mr. Nadeem Ahmed, Social Policy Advisory, Federal SDG Support Unit and Planning Commission.
The event was attended by a large number of corporate leaders from leading companies working on sustainability, representatives from government, development organizations and civil society.
