ISLAMABAD: The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) is likely to extend the deadline for filing the Income Tax returns.
As per the media reports, the deadline will be extended for 15 days.
Earlier, the FBR has made it clear that no additional day will be given and as such September 30 will be the last date to file tax returns. The filers facing difficulties in submitting returns till September 30 can approach respective tax commissioners for an individual extension as per the law.
But now the FBR is considering extending the deadline after the meeting of the business community with the chief of army staff Gen Asim Munir during his Karachi visit.
Various bodies of the business community have demanded the FBR extend the deadline by at least 15 days.
The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has requested FBR to extend the returns filing date to October 15.
Meanwhile, FBR offices will remain open on Sunday and Monday and banks and tax offices will collect tax returns till 8 pm to ensure that no citizen misses out on filing tax returns.
