FBR Chairman, Governor discuss economic activities under pandemic

Chairman Federal Board of Revenue Muhammad Javed Ghani called on Sindh Governor Imran Ismail in Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting discussed various important issues, including economic targets, tax collection and measures taken for economic activities in view of Coronavirus. During the meeting, Chairman Muhammad JavedGhani informed the Governor that the Federal Board of Revenue collected Rs. 1688 billion in taxes in the first five months of the current financial year from July to November 2020 while the target was set at Rs. Revenue of Rs. 1623 billion was collected. Similarly, FBR received gross revenue of Rs. 1773 billion from July to November as against Rs. 1664 billion received last year. Thus, an additional Rs. He said that Rs 80 billion was returned for economic activity as against Rs 41 billion last year. He added that despite the global slowdown in the economy due to the global corona virus pandemic, the FBR has ensured better measures and Under the Finance Act 2020, tax relief has been provided to various sectors. The Governor said that the steps taken by the FBR to increase the economic activities were commendable. He said that the increase in economic activities is a success of the government.
