LAHORE – Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana has expressed confidence in the team’s preparations for the Women’s Asia Cup 2026, saying matches and training sessions against boys have provided valuable experience to the players.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Fatima said the team had worked hard to address mistakes from the past and would treat every match in the Asia Cup with equal importance rather than focusing solely on the fixture against India.
She said playing and training alongside the men’s team had helped the players gain experience of competing in difficult situations, which would prove beneficial during the tournament.
Fatima also highlighted the importance of fielding, saying the players had been instructed to focus equally on batting, bowling and fielding as strong performances in all three departments were essential for success.
Reflecting on her participation in The Hundred, Fatima described the experience as an honour and said becoming the first Pakistani woman cricketer to play in the English league had been a memorable opportunity.
She said she was pleased to see Pakistan’s name represented in the competition and hoped more Pakistani players would get opportunities to play in international leagues in the future.
The Women’s Asia Cup 2026 will be held in Dubai from August 28 to September 13. Pakistan are placed in Group A alongside India, Hong Kong and Thailand.
Pakistan will face Thailand on September 1, India on September 5 and Hong Kong on September 7.
