KARACHI – Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) senior leader Dr. Farooq Sattar has threatened to stage a sit-in on Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Faisal along with six million motorcyclists in protest against the e-challan system.
Speaking during a public outreach campaign in Surjani Town Sector 4-B, Farooq Sattar said that the e-challan system has become “a new way to extort Karachi’s citizens.”
He accused the Sindh government of failing to provide basic civic facilities while continuously burdening the people with more taxes.
“Build the roads first — the city is in ruins, but Abdullah is busy in his own world,” he remarked.
Criticising the selective implementation of the e-challan system, Sattar questioned why it was being enforced only in Karachi and not in other cities such as Larkana, Kashmore, or Dadu.
The MQM-P leader said that citizens reject what he termed the Sindh government’s “feudal-style and unfair taxation.”
He added, “You don’t repair roads or drainage systems, yet you keep imposing taxes.
Dumpers and containers are claiming lives on the roads, and now they want to seize our hard-earned money too — this won’t be tolerated.”
Using a satirical tone, he remarked, “When the dove lays eggs but the crow eats them — this injustice must stop now.”
Dr. Farooq Sattar warned that if the e-challan system is not withdrawn, the citizens will take to the streets in protest.
“If this system continues, I will lead a sit-in on Shahrah-e-Faisal with six million motorcyclists,” he added.
