Farmers suffer as urea fertilizer crisis intensifies

The urea fertilizer crisis intensified and its procurement at official rates became a dream for farmers in the district Hafizabad despite tall claims of district administration and agriculture department for availability of fertilizers on control rates.

This was stated by the Vice Central President Kissan Board Pakistan Imanullah Chathah while he was leading a protest demonstration at Hafizabad. He said that farmers across the district were going pillar to post for purchasing fertilizer on fixed price of Rs. 2250/= per bag but no one keeping ear on the protest of farmers in the district whereas this situation would be caused low production of wheat in the area.

He said that fertilizer dealers were selling fertilizer at the price of Rs.3000/per bag in black market while all concerned government agencies were in deep slumber to ignore problems of farmers in the district.

Protesting farmers demanded the government to control fertilizer mafia consisting off fertilizer companies, stockiest and other shopkeepers, otherwise, per acre yield of would be declined and not only efforts of the government for achieving self-reliance in food production would be failed but also the country would be import wheat from abroad which would caused more burden of national exchequer.

Meanwhile while expressing solidarity with Chairmen PPP Bilawal Bhutto, Workers of Pakistan People’s Party Hafizabad led by office bearers including Muhammad Arshad Mehind Advocate.
