Minister for National Food Security and Research/Convener Syed Fakhar Imam has appreciated Speaker Asad Qaiser for his initiative to take all parties on board to have cordial relation within the parliament.
He was chairing the first meeting of the Council of Senior Parliamentarians held in the Parliament House on Monday.
Syed Fakhar Imam said that cordiality among all political parties was imperative for smooth conduct of House proceedings and to bring the country out of socio economic challenges.
Upholding parliamentary norms and avoiding non- parliamentary approaches would bring parliamentary supremacy in the country, he remarked.
The Minister NFS&R read out the ToRs of the Council and termed them comprehensive. He expressed his optimism that the proceedings of the Council would be meaningful and purposeful for upholding the parliamentary norms and traditions.
He constituted a subcommittee comprising Mr. Pervaiz Khattak, Minister for Defence and Dr Fehmida Mirza, Minister for Inter Provincial Coordination to approach other members of Committee for their meaningful participation in the proceedings of the Council so that parliamentary norms could be strengthened within Parliament.—INP
