Children of the Pre-Junior and Junior Sections of The City School’s Capital Campus Islamabad showcased impressive talents in arts, sciences, performing arts, project displays and physical activities during an Open House event on Friday, providing them with a refreshing break from their daily routines.
The Day also served to provide the parents and the broader community with an opportunity to visit the school, meet teachers and staff, tour the building and visit its classrooms, play grounds, libraries and computer labs, etc.
Ms Mehr Asad has joined the school recently as Principal. She has previously served in the network as Assistant General Manager-Academics & Training. Ms Mehr Asad has a rich experience (almost 26 years) in academics and large school setups ranging from early years to A-levels. About the Open House she said it was a festival, plus a get together of the students, teachers and parents where children could learn through hands-on activities & parents get a chance to witness these & ask questions.
According to Ms. Mehr Asad, it was an opportunity for the TCS and non-TCS parents to visit the school, meet its staff and witness how teaching & learning takes place.
Ms Hooria Niazi Headmistress of the Pre Junior Section while talking to Pakistan Observer said at The City School, parents can have for their kids all they can imagine for instance the latest learning methods and conceptual studies, interaction with the peers and the teachers in fluent English language besides taking part in physical activities and a strong conviction in the bright future of the country. “We inspire our students to cultivate a love for learning, fostering compassion and critical thinking skills. Our goal is to nurture them into global citizens who contribute positively to our society and the world at large.”she said.
About the parents and visitors, she said they would learn about the educational programmes and opportunities offered.

Ms. Farah Ahsan, the headmistress of the Junior Section, elaborated on the overarching vision guiding the projects showcased by the students. She highlighted how these projects are intricately aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), emphasizing the importance of addressing global challenges such as poverty, inequality, and climate change.
By integrating the SDGs into our initiatives, the students are not only gaining valuable knowledge and skills but also actively contributing to the collective effort towards a more sustainable and equitable future for all.
Ms. Hashma Rizvi, headmistress of EYE Section, emphasized on play-based learning as an essential tool for fostering holistic development in young children. Play-based learning provides a dynamic and engaging environment where children can explore, experiment, and make sense of the world around them.
Play encourages interaction with peers, promoting social skills such as sharing, cooperation, and empathy. It stimulates cognitive development by encouraging problem-solving, decision-making, and creativity.
All the visitors were impressed as they witnessed students confidently demonstrating their skills, prompting them to express delight and appreciation for the talent and dedication exhibited by the students.
The segment related to martial arts was the highlight of the event and pulled a huge crowd as the PE teacher of the Pre-Junior Section and Black Belt 3rd Dan holder Imran Khan was impressively conducting the young champs to perform on his commands. The 4-times National champion and Member of the World Taekwondo Federation had made them physically superfit.
The atmosphere was filled with admiration and positive energy, highlighting the remarkable achievements of the young performers.
