ISLAMABAD – The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has proposed the imposition of fixed charges of up to Rs1,000 in electricity bills on residential consumers, starting from July 1, 2024.
The regulatory authority has sent its proposal to the government, which will give the final nod to impose the fixed charges.
Nepra has proposed different slabs for imposition of fixed charges on electricity consumers. Following is the complete list of slabs:

| 601-700 units/month | Rs. 800/month |

Earlier this month, Nepra dropped another bombshell on the masses by according an approval to further increase of Rs5.75 per unit in the basic power tariff.
The NEPRA had announced an increase of around 20 percent in the uniform power tariff to generate Rs3.8 trillion in funds for 10 power distribution companies (discos) during the fiscal year 2024-25, amid Pakistan’s talks with the international Monetary Fund for a new bailout program.
