A special court of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has sentenced former provincial minister of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid (PML-Q) Chaudhry Riaz from Gujjar Khan to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs50 million in assets beyond means case.
The Rawalpindi accountability court has sentenced former provincial minister Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs50 million after 18 years on charges of making assets in excess of income.
Chaudhry Riaz was declared a fugitive by the court for not surrendering before the court from abroad. Later, Chaudhry Riaz returned to Pakistan and surrendered and was granted bail. The decision on the reference filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against Chaudhry Riaz in 2002 was delivered by Accountability Court Judge Pervez Ismail Joya.
